The holidays give me the opportunity to thoughtfully plan a big meal for my friends and family. A lot of care and love goes into the planning, preparation, and execution of it all. Did I have moments of complete overwhelm? Sure! However, the looks on my loved one's faces and the "oohs" and "ahhs" heard as they enjoy every item placed in front of them, made up for all of the work.
In order to spend less time stressing and more time enjoying my guests, I went with a simple table setting with disposables. It still looked beautiful and clean up was a breeze. Sometimes we have to compromise and give ourselves some slack.
Our meal was flavorful, beautiful to the eye, and good for the body.
Our Rosh Hashanah meal included:
Bourbon and Honey Glazed Sweet Potatoes
Honey Glazed Salmon Skewers
Pan Seared Halibut with Greens
Veggie Bowl to lighten things up

Honey Infused Challah Ingredients 2 cups warm water2 pkgs dry yeast3/4 cup honey1/2 cup oil1 Tbsp salt2 eggs2 Tbsp vanilla extract2 cups oats2 1/2 lbs whole wheat flour Instructions Dissolve the yeast in water.Add honey. Let the yeast bubble and double in size.Add in oil, salt, eggs, vanilla, oats, and flour. Mix well. Let dough rise. When the dough is double in size, punch it down. Shape into loaves. Glaze challahs with egg yolk. Drizzle extra honey and some oats on top. Bake at 350 degrees until golden brown.
